Abstract

Abstract - In most developing economies self employment is considered as the engine for economic growth and for promoting technological and social development. Self employment is a nursery of entrepreneurship often driven by individual creativity and innovation. The major advantage of self employment is its employment potential at low capital cost. As unemployment continues to surge in most developing countries most youths have decided to start their own businesses as survival strategy. Youths who have joined the business community have become the main driving force behind job creation poverty reduction wealth creation income distribution and reduction in income disparities. This study explored the challenges faced by young entrepreneurs in Zvishavane Zimbabwe. 20 twenty youth entrepreneurs participated in the study. Data was collected through individual and focus group interviews. The study found that youths face the following challenges lack of working capital lack of leadership and management skills poor infrastructure economic crisis and hostile legal framework. The study was concluded by giving recommendations to various stakeholders on ways of improving and cushioning youth to effectively run their businesses
