Abstract
In this paper, we have focused the position of subjects with suicidal ideation and suicide attempt, for psychiatric reasons, according to the platelet lipid fatty acids profile. A Self Organizing Map (SOM) has identified three fatty acids (Palmitic Acid [PA], Linoleic Acid [LA] and Arachidonic Acid [AA]), which have classified the major Mood isorders (Major Depression and Bipolar Disorder), as described in previous reports. We have utilized the same self organizing map in a group of children obtaining results that can open a new way in the biochemical understanding of Mood Disorders in children.
