HIGH-RISE CONSTRUCTION IN RUSSIA

This article describes the history of high-rise construction in Russia from buildings of the past to the modern ones. The most important completed projects are mentioned, along with some skyscrapers under construction, such as Lakhta Center and Federation Tower. The article tells about the problems of high-rise construction in Russia: shortage of the experience in designing similar structures; city planning with high-rise buildings; fire safety; imperfection of existing building codes in the sphere of high-rise construction. Moreover, the article describes actual building codes, connected with skyscrapers, and the planning ones. The comparison is made and the assessment of completeness and practical importance is done.
