Abstract
Irregularities of the alternate complement pathway can lead to both renal-limited and systemic pathology. We present the case of a transplant recipient with renal disease of unknown etiology who developed acute kidney injury in the weeks following transplant and manifested different histologic and clinical patterns of alternate complement pathway mediated immunologic injury at different points in her post-transplant course. We searched Medline for cases and studies pertaining to alternate complement pathway renal-associated diseases, their pathologic mechanisms, potential treatment options, and report our findings.
