Abstract
A fictional space is above all a literary object that appears through the words used by a novelist. But two novelists do not present a space in the same way. Each writer has his esthetic way of representing it. This article which focuses on the study of fictional space in Adetunji Ogundimu‘s Silly Season shows how the types of spaces and the spatial organization in the novel lead to their structural function and the ideologies of the protagonists, thanks to the literary approach of geo criticism. In consequence, the topographic structure obtained from the novel reflects its content as shown in the annex. The interpretation of the topographic structure reveals the meaning of the message the novel conveys. Thus, Kunle moves from open spaces to closed spaces, which means from hope to despair.
