The art of art therapy

Concerned about the confusion in many of the presentations I heard at an American Art Therapy Association conference in 1981, I decided that it would be helpful to spell out the basic elements of Art Therapy in a book (Rubin, 1984), and to do so as simply as possible. Here I shall outline the primary elements of that book, recently revised (Rubin, 2011), illustrating some of the clinical aspects in work with both a child and an adult.
