Abstract

The article deals with the ethical and legal aspects of the World War I in I. A. Ilyin's works. The au- thor shows how the philosopher Ivan Ilyin analyzed the moral contradiction of the War. The philosopher criti- cized the doctrines of Leo Tolstoy about the non-resistance to evil by force. I. Ilyin pointed out the conditions under which it is possible to overcome the moral contradictions of the war and argued the need for resistance to evil by force. The meaning of the legal regulation of the international conflicts is revealed in the work of the Russian thinker. The importance of the sense of justice in the philosophy of I.A. Ilyin is also stressed in the arti- cle. The relationship of the state of the sense of justice and patriotism in the works of the philosopher is shown vividly
