Abstract
The article is devoted to the determination of stress arising during deformation of polymeric parts, namely, under torsion. Analytical methods with a graphical representation of are used in the paper. Because the elastic properties of polymeric materials do not obey Hooke's law, the use of classical methods of applied mechanics for description of such parts leads to errors in calculation results. The process of deformation of polymeric beams under torsion is analyzed. The mathematical model is evolved to describe the process of torsion of solid and hollow beams of circular cross section. The expressions for shear stress distribution along the radius of the beam and calculating the angle of twist of beam's sections under torque are obtained, given the nature of dependence between strains and stresses for the polymeric material. Graphic dependencies are built, showing the results of calculation of shear stresses and deformations of beams at different values of torque. The mathematical model is built using a power relationship between stress and deformation of the polymer material. The results can be used for the design of structural elements of machines and appliances, building constructions, products of light industry.
