Abstract
Gene Expression - is the process by which genetic information from a gene (DNA nucleotide sequence) is converted into a functional product - RNA or protein. Some stages of gene expression can be regulated: it transcription, translation, and RNA splicing step of post-translational modifications of proteins. Regulation of gene expression allows cells to control their own structure and function, and is the basis of cell differentiation, morphogenesis and adaptation. Gene expression is a substrate for evolutionary change, since control over time, place and quantitative characteristics of the expression of one gene can have an effect on the function of other genes in the whole organism.
