Abstract

The aim of this study is to determine according to duration of professionalism whether there is a difference between the selected physical and physiological characteristics in a group of soccer players who take place in Turkey Super League. 29 professional soccer players in a team of Turkey Super League participated voluntarily in this research. Participants' age, height, body weight and body mass index, body fat ratio, body lean mass, total body fluid, flexibility, leg strength, vertical jump and anaerobic power measured. For data analysis, Mann-Whitney U test in the SPSS (Ver. 14) package program was used, and alpha level (?) was set as 0,05 for statistical significance. As a result; only 2 of 11 physical and physiological parameters have statistically significant differences between groups according to duration of professionalism. So, it may be claimed that duration of professionalism has a limited effect on selected physical and physiological characteristics of professional soccer players.
