Abstract
This paper studies the variation of interlaminar stresses of composite plates with the presence of delamination. The effect of a change in the position of delamination on the interfacial stresses is estimated. A four-layer composite laminate is generated for different stacking sequence and the interfacial stresses are obtained from the clamped boundary condition subjected to in plane tensile loading. The objective of the present work is achieved by using finite element based software ANSYS. The variation of stresses in transverse and through thickness direction, in plane and out of plane stresses is obtained from finite element models. The studies revealed that the presence of delamination increases the interlaminar stresses. The remedy to decrease these stresses is proposed by selecting nano reinforcement. The present work provides a solution to suppress the effect caused by interfacial stresses.
