Abstract

Runoff Modeling of any catchment assumes a vital part for building legitimate planning of the water resources. The change of precipitation into overflow over a catchment is known exceptionally for the complex hydrological occurrence, nonlinear, time-shifting and spatially distributed. Different methodologies for overflow estimation are accessible going from lumped to physically based distributed models. This paper depicts the utilization of MIKE11 NAM Rainfall runoff model to explore its execution, proficiency and appropriateness in Shipra river basin in Madhya Pradesh, India. The MIKE 11 Nedbor Afrstromnings Model is a lumped theoretical model for simulating the runoff from the precipitation. The input data utilized by the model was weighted precipitation, Potential evapotranspiration and observed runoff. The total time series of 11 years duration from 1996 to 2006 was used in this study. The model calibration was done for the time frame from 1996 to 2001 and validated for the years 2002 to 2006. The dependability and performance of the NAM model was assessed based on Accuracy criteria Coefficient of determination (R2 ). The coefficient of determination R2 value for calibration and validation period was observed 0.720 and 0.502 respectively. The Nash?Sutcliffe Efficiency (EI) for calibration and validation is 76% and 85% respectively. The NAM model was found appropriate for simulation and prediction of daily runoff with good degree of accuracy.
