Abstract
Environmental monitoring describes the processes and activities that need to take place to characterise and monitor the quality of the environment. IoT refers to uniquely identifiable objects and their virtual representations in an Internet-like structure with wide range of products from an aircraft to a pencil box, to a tea cup, to a building, to a plant in your garden. We can locate any “thing” that we are looking for using the IoT. These IoT’s have a wide range of applications in environmental monitoring systems as well. Usage of Wireless sensor networks (WSN) are well suited for long term environmental data acquisition for IoT representations. This paper proposes a ubiquitous technique of using WSN for a range of long term environmental monitoring IoT applications.
