Abstract

Venous thrombosis is the result of occlusive clot formation in the veins. It occurs mainly in the deep veins of the leg (DVT - deep vein thrombosis), from which parts o the clot frequently embolize to the lungs(PE pulmonary embolism).6,11 Around 50 of DVT from pelvic veins and proximal leg veins embolize to produce PE. Thrombosis at rare sites (cerebral vein thrombosis , mesenteric vein thrombosis , pulmonary artery thrombosis , etc ) constitutes 5 of all venous thromboses.6 Hereditary thrombophilia is the condition , in which individuals from families with a hereditary tendency for venous thrombosis , have a more severe thrombotic tendency , have their first episode of thrombosis at a young age(20 to 35 years), recurrent thrombotic episodes , and thrombosis in rare locations.6 We are presenting such a h e r e d i t a r y t h r o m b o p h i l i a (Hyperhomocysteinemia) in a young male with recurrent thrombosis and thrombosis at rare locations (cerebral venous thrombosis , pulmonary artery thrombosis).
