A rare case of jejunal GIST presenting as acute abdomen

Abstract
Gastrointestinal stromal tumor (GIST) is the designation for a specifi c type of mesenchymal tumor of the gastrointestinal (GI) tract that has a spectrum from benign to malignant. These tumors are driven by activating c-KIT and PDGFRA mutations,and express KIT receptor tyrosine kinase (CD117). A 45 yr old male presented with acute abdominal pain for 2 days and on examination the abdomen guarding was present over the right illiac fossa. the patient was provisionally diagnosed as perforated appendix and taken for immediate laparotomy which revealed a jejunal tmour rupture 15 cm from DJ flexure. segmental resection and anastamosis done.The HPE report was GIST.GIST presenting as acute abdomen is a rare presentation.This case reported because of its rarity.
