Abstract
Family problems related to alcoholism accompanied mankind since the appearance of alcoholic beverages. In society, these issues were discussed and debated sharply because drinking negatively affects family relationships. Among them, the question of divorce is important. Drunkenness, accompanied by aggression, was well known in Moldavia of the 18th century and could be a reason for divorce. In this report on the basis of specific examples from the Moldavian and Bessarabian life of the 18th century and the first decades of the 19th century there is reflected the problem of family and alcohol.
