Abstract
One of factors that is often used as a measure of the education success is by looking at the success of teaching-learning process in achieving objectives. Another factor that was crucial to this is the motivation of the students in order to prepare himself start a learning process. In achieving desired educational goals is certainly a lot of learning methods are applied to the educational environment, especially for education that aims to increase the motivation of a students. Education process often use lecture method, students are less active. This leads to student learning outcomes are not achieved optimal. This study aims to improve student learning outcomes by implementing the strategy meaningful learning with classroom action research with two cycles. Each cycle consists of the stages of planning, action, observation and reflection. Data were collected by tests, observations, and questionnaires. Data was analyzed using descriptive statistical analysis. Based on the analysis of research data, completeness learning of students increased 60.98% in the first cycle and the second cycle increased to 78.05%. Activeness of lecturer is 67.97% in the first cycle and 80.47% in the second cycle. Student activity is 51.22% in the first cycle and the second cycle is 75.61%. Students response is 75.61% who had agreed in the questionnaire. From these results, the study reached the indicators of success, and it can be concluded that the strategy of meaningful learning can be made and received student learning introductory education courses.
