Abstract
In this article an attempt was undertaken to study the granulation process from metallurgical and archaeological point of view. The first section is addressed to production and application of the granulation, as well as a similar techniques – that of the watermark. In the second part of the article is discussed the spread of granulation in the early Avar period. In conclusion the authors admit the possibility of local production (Black Sea coast and the Carpathian area) of granulated objects.
