Abstract
This paper describes the analysis and desi gn of a hybrid (Wind/PV) power system for domestic applications connected to mono-phase grid. The connection of a generation system to the utility grid requires a robust phase locked loop (PLL) and continuous detection of utility grid status (such as outage, over-/under-voltage and over-/under frequency). The sizing of this system is mainly based on the price quality factor of the extracted energy. In this design each system is controlled individually to operate in its maximum power point (MPPT). The simulation results and the sensibility analysis show that our generator is able to exploit the complementarity between the two energy sources (wind/ PV) and provides a reliable energy production. It is found that, to obtain grid voltage and grid current at unity power factor, the grid side parameters have to be tuned properly by designing the filter and proper modulation scheme for grid inverter interface.
