THE MEANING OF DISEASE AND PAIN: RENEWAL AS HEALING

The article notes that one of the key directions of development of modern social psychology medicine is the doctor's help for patient to understand disease and pain. A method of effective pain management is "renewal" of the patient of his position in relation to the treatment up to the review of his whole life, which allows to use different strategies to overcome the difficult situation. We also consider the impact of socio-psychological phenomena (averaging effect, social stereotypes) in the process of setting a physician diagnosis.
