Abstract
We propose a new management model for separated urban waste. The model consists of using the incineration of biodegradable organic waste to determine its lower calorific value, weight and volume reduction as well as the Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD) of ash leachate after incinerating the biodegradable waste at 400° C, 500 °C, and 600 ° C in a laboratory-level muffle furnace. Gaseous emissions from the incineration are also evaluated at 600 ° C. It was determined that, at 600 ° C, the volume of waste is reduced by 80% and the weight is reduced by 96%. The lower calorific value of the waste approximates the 4000 kcal/kg. The values obtained from the leachates COD, and the concentration of the gaseous pollutants did not exceed the permissible limits.
