Abstract
The article is an attempt to reconstruct the life and work of Vasyl Stepanovych Solyanyk, who was one of the disciples of D. Yavornytsky and worked at the museum in 1920–1940. V. S. Solyanyk was a native of Dnipropetrovsk region, worked as a teacher in the Petrykivka village. He was interested in history, archaeology, ethnography of local region, was a good artist and draftsman, has created a museum at school. After meeting with Academician D. Yavornytsky Solyanyk interested in archaeology, began working at the museum. He participated in the archaeological excavations of Dniprobud archaeological expedition, led D. Yavornytsky. Nowadays several letters of V. S. Solianyk to D.Yavornytsky where he described in detail the events that took place in the life of the expedition during the investigation of archaeological site are kept in Dnipropetrovsk National Historical Museum.
