Abstract

The main task of trade is to provide goods and services. These must be selected, acquired, transported and stored. In order for them to understand all the connections of the flow of goods, traders must have basic knowledge at all levels, even if various activities are carried out by specialists. This paper seeks to review the following concepts: logistics, supply chain, transport, Inventory management, and incoterms. Investigations of the following logistics processes are conducted: tasks related to logistics and the importance of an employee position in a commercial enterprise, the procurement procedures, the functions of transport, railways and transport, goals, data and techniques of inventory management. Logistics, which is an old concept aimed at: achieving maximum customer service level, ensuring high product quality, achieving minimum (possible) cost, being flexible in the constant market changes. Logistics management tries to have the “right product”, in the “right quantity”, at the “right place”, at the “right time”, with the “right cost”. Logistics management must balance 2 basic targets: Quality of Service and Low Cost. We also found that logistics activities contribute the most to the total cost of logistics or they are essential to the effective coordination and completion of the logistics task. (Customer service, transportation, Inventory management, Information flows and, order processing). The scope of this paper is limited to basic logistics concepts and process. Through this study, companies will deeply understand tasks related to logistics, the procurement procedures, the functions of transport, railways and transport, goals, data and techniques of inventory management. Few studies have specifically addressed detailed logistics process. The paper offers a detailed overview of logistics concept and process based on a review of the existing literature.
