Abstract
Enhancement of employee competencies has become a central theme for Human Resource (HR) practitioners as they are striving to manage the challenge of change in organisations. At the employee level, the attitude, ability and willingness to learn and adapt to changing demands plays a vital role in maintaining a competitive edge. This paper explores the learning orientation of bank employees by critically analysing their effort for learning, emotional and intentional focus in the learning process and learning autonomy. The findings suggest that the learning orientation of bank employees needs to be enhanced further to face the challenges in service portfolio and diverse customer demands.
