Abstract
In today's age of competition and globalization, the Indian banking industry is passing through a process of market liberalization that has demanded a greater customer focus from banks. Banks demand that its employees give their hundred percent and this expectation develops stress in the employee. The research study aims to explore the organizational role stress experienced by the employees in a private sector bank and to investigate the relationship between Emotional Intelligence and Organizational Role Stress. The sample for the research consists of 56 Managers in the Private Sector Banks in India. Results show an inverse relationship between the Emotional Intelligence factors and the Organizational Role Stress factors, indicating that individuals high on Emotional Intelligence experience less Organizational Role Stress.
