Abstract
Literature suggests that services in which the customer needs to comply with specific behaviors prescribed to them in personal interaction with the provider, and to independently continue to do so over a period of time are known as compliance dependent services. While several studies relate to compliance dependent services, literature relating to academic settings is scarce. This experimental research examines the effect of self-regulatory focus (SRF) on long-term student compliance behavior within a higher education setting. We determined that SRF did not have an effect on course performance. Limitations of the study and directions for future research are discussed.
