DEYLEMÎ AND HIS METHOD OF EXEGESIS IN TASDIKU’L-MA’ÂRİF

In our study, we covered Ebû Sâbit Muhammed b. Abdilmelik ed-Deylemi and Tefsiru'd- Deylemî as our topic. The study consists of Introduction, two Chapters, and a Conclusion. In the Introductions, we focused on the significance of the study, the reason we chose Deylemî and his Exegesis- Tasdîku'l-Maârif- as our topic and method utilized. In the First Section, Deylemî's life and his work were explored. It was observed that the existing sources on Deylemî's life contained limited and contradictory information. However, it was tried to reach to information about his life by undergoing a thorough examination of Deylemî's own books. In this examination, we came to conclusion that Deylemî lived between the years of Hijri 525-593. In this section, we tried to introduce approximately thirty sources by Deylemî, both hand-written and printed formats, -as we could obtain- by dividing them into two sections: which reached hitherto and which did not. In the Second Section, sources of Tasdîku'l-Maârif and exegesis which Deylemî applied were recorded. Then, method utilized by Deylemî, in his work Tasdîku'l-Maârif was introduced. For not exceeding the limit of the article, we touched on Deylemî's aproach regarding to exegesis of a verse with a verse, hadith and the like as short as possible. We also, mentioned the Deylemî's perception regarding some concepts of exegesis method, such as esbab-ı nüzul (occasion of revelation), huruf-u mukattaa (unique letter combinations that appear in the beginning of suras) ve müteşabih (allegorical) verses. In the Conclusion, the findings as a result of our study are provided.
