Abstract
The article informs on the findings of the inter-regional scientific Conference on Conservation and Popularization of Archaeological Heritage, which took place in Mari El Republic, village Yuryino, from 13 to 16 August 2016. The Conference was dedicated to the 60th Anniversary of the Mari archaeological expedition establishd in 1956 at the Mari Science and Research Institute named after V.M. Vasilyev. The participants presented 36 reports on the following topics: progress of the Mari archaeological expedition over its 60 years of activities and endeavours of its members; debatable and current issues of conservation of archaeological sites in the context of modern environmental and economic impact, as well as general and particular issues of chronology and cultural and ethnic interpretation of archaeological materials from the Volga-Ural region.
