Abstract
ABSTRACT Public Distribution System (PDS) is an important constituent of the strategy for policy, to ensure availability of food grains to the public at affordable prices, for enhancing the food security for the poor, to aid in poverty eradication and is intended to serve as a safety net for the poor families. The targeted PDS is costly and gives rise to corruption, illegal diversions of commodities, hoarding and black marketing in the process of extricating the poor from those who are less needy. This can be done by the automation of the fair price shop (FPS). Distributing the essential commodities using electronic device with biometric authentication of any member of beneficiary in order to restraint the diversion at the FPS level, UIDAI will provide an online service to support this process. The objective of the paper is to enhance the visibility, accessibility and efficiency of the system by properly designing the asynchronous Transfer machine which will streamline the process of PDS/FPS.
