T. G. Shevchenko's heritage as a theme of activity of the ukrainian upper Dnieper area societies and groups in 70 - 80s years of the 19th century

Abstract

The author shows how in 70–80s of the 19th century the members of the Ukrainian societies and public groups studied, published and spread out freedom-loving and folksy Shevchenko's poetic inheritance; as they learnt this poet's linguistic achievements, composed the music for his lyrics. The author stresses that it was important for the Upper Dnieper Area Ukrainian narodolyubcies to save historical memory about T. G. Shevchenko and they had been arranging annual Shevchenko's anniversaries celebrations for many years. The societies' members also took care of Shevchenko's grave in Kanev. It is proved that Kiev Old Society was especially active in that process. Kiev Society bought the Shevchenko's poems manuscripts, published them and encouraged the student and young people to study his literature inheritance. The strong emotional mean of T. G. Shevchenko's poetic talent popularization was making a piece of music based on his poems. It has been studied the influence of T. G. Shevchenko's heritage upon national cultural activity of the Ukrainian societies and groups in Elisavetgrad, Odessa, Kharkiv and Tchernihiv cities. These societies' activity was important for Ukrainian national identity forming. It influenced upon Ukrainian national moment consolidation. The author has concluded that T. G. Shevchenko's theme took a great place in the Ukrainian societies and groups activity in 70–80s of the 19th century.
