Abstract
The article presents an overview of Russian and foreign experience in quay facilities. The existing classification of the quays and problems associated with their design are described. The construction, which satisfies the most natural conditions of the North-West region of Russia is indicated. There is the review of measures to reduce loads on the sheet-pile walls and recommendations of the development of the construction, which can reduce the efforts in the front wall, reduce the metal consumption and the complexity of the work's execution.
