Abstract

This paper summarizes the results of experimental studies of damaged reinforced concrete beams repaired by bonding of carbon fibre reinforced polymer (CFRP) composite laminates to the beam. Two sets of beams have to be test in this study: control beams (without CFRP laminates) and damaged and then repaired beams with different amounts of CFRP laminates by varying different parameters (damage degree, CFRP laminate width, concrete strength class). All beams have to be tested under simply supported condition .The test has to be done under two point loading using the Universal testing machine over a span of 1500 mm. The tests were carried out under displacement control. The most investigated parameter in this experimental study is damage degree (ratio between pre-cracked load and load capacity of control beam). To evaluate the strength of damaged RC beams with externally bonded CFRP laminates have the target of this project. The experimental failure modes are peeling off and interfacial de-bonding. These failure modes depend only on the laminate width.
