Abstract
Contract forms, terms, specification, analysis of rate and conditions of contract are being followed by various governments departments in the field of civil construction are not uniform. Against the backdrop of India's burgeoning macroeconomic prospects, the weaknesses of the construction industry create challenges, particularly with respect to settlement of disputes between the owner and contractor that it will have to overcome. Arbitration awards have been studied and based upon their analyses a series of survey questionnaire have been developed. The responses to the above along with the gist of focused discussions and interviews with domain experts forms the basis for SWOT analyses of arbitration awards.
