Abstract

Objective. The objective of the article is to carry out an explication of the term «so-cial competence of the student” on the basis of comprehensive analysis of the scientific li-terature. Methods. Methodological basis of the present research presupposes the following kinds of analysis: analysis and synthesis of scientific, popular scientific, and educational literature on the problems of social competence notion definition; system analysis; com-bining historical and logical methods in the study; allocation of subsystems of complex ob-jects and their system analysis, holistic, integrated approach to the study of pedagogical phenomena. Results. The concept of social competence of the student is generalized; factors that prompted the emergence of social competence as a pedagogical-didactic phenomenon are stated; the abilities of the individual, which are crucial for social competence, are indicated; the types of competencies that are contiguous to the social one are emphasized: they are the professional competence, socio-psychological, socio-cultural, social and perceptual.
