Abstract
This article examines the evolution of the scientific views on the spatial characteristics of economic activity. It is understood that the spatial aspect presented in the works of economists of different schools and currents (mercantilists, physiocrats, German and English classics, etc.) lays the foundation of today's research and scientific summaries of regional entrepreneurial activity. In terms of relevance, the article presents not all but only those contributions of scientists that are in the direction of spatial and regional analysis of the economy, including the theories of fertility decline, differential rent, comparative advantages, agricultural standort, agglomeration effect, etc.
