Abstract
This article deals with the stereotypic explicit expressions of an etiquette speech genre "compliment" in linguistic consciousness and communicative behavior of the native speakers of compared linguocultures (based on the material of fiction and informal conversation). Ethnocultural specifics of the complementary statements, which are conventional in these societies, are revealed.
