Abstract
Abstract In this paper, an enhanced joint synchronization model for Gaussian Mean Shift keying (GMSK) modulation has been developed for low signal to noise ratio GSM system. The proposed joint synchronization model applies the enhanced symbol timing offset (STO), carrier frequency offset (CTO) and carrier phase offset (CPO) measurement model for GMSK scheme. Further, to strengthen the proposed synchronization measure, especially for high data rate GSM receiver unit, symbol-bysymbol (SBS) decoding scheme has been introduced. The implementation of the proposed joint synchronization scheme with Global System of Mobile Communication (GSM) has exhibited low bit error rate even at the SNR of 10dB, which affirms its employability with real time systems.
