Abstract
In this study, Çahpur Fountain, located at Harput neighborhood in Elazig Central District has examined by the ways of architetural and historical. First of all, largely source searching has made. In this context, the geography and history of Harput has limited by evolution of fountain architeture, evolution of Ottoman fountain architeture, architetural features, history, plans, materials, technics, ornaments, and location of Harput Çahpur Fountain, also comparsion, evaluation, result and proposals about restoration works. The number of fountains is too much within the works of water architeture. One of the most important reason about development of fountain architeture is importancy of cleaning in our religional beliefs. Fountains are one of the most important architetural works for Turkish-Islamic cities, because the people that lived in past used it for resolve their water needings. Because of that, so much fountain remains today in Harput. Many of these are belongs Ottoman era. Elazığ province have its own fountain architeture. Single placed and rectangular (eyvan) shaped Çahpur Fountain is one of these fountains. In this article, architeture features of Çahpur Fountain at Harput has examined compratively.
