Abstract
Rasayana therapy is one of the eight divisions of Ayurveda. According to Charaka the aushadhi (medicine) are of two types. The first is swasthasyaurjaskara (promoting the health) and the other one is rogasyaartanut (cure the disease). Rasayana (rejuvenates) comes in the first category. In todays' unhealthy lifestyle, polluted air, hybridized diet, unnecessary use of antibiotics has mainly hamper the immunity of general people. The best solution for this is the implementation of ‘Rasayana therapy' in daily regimen of the people and also use of Rasayana drugs during the treatment of diseases. Rasayana therapy has been explained since vedasupto all samhitagrantha elaborately. With the passage of time when occurrence of disease and newly found diseases become more frequent the positive healthy aspect turns towards therapeutic aspect. Lot of work has been done on the concept of ‘Rasayana' regarding its literary and clinical aspect. Charaka and other samhita akarahave descried mainly yoga (formulations) of Rasayana.Bhavaprakasha is included inlaghutrayi. The era of Bhavaprakasha is sixteenth century. The authors in recent era may have explained different thing other than the bruhatryayi. The specialty ofBhavaprakasha is description of vanaspatidravya (herbal drugs) in detail. This impact may be seen in explaining the Rasayana chapter in Bhavaprakasha samhita. The main aim of this article is to explore these different specialties of description of Rasayana other than samhitagrantha.
