Abstract
The purpose of this research work is to improve the solubility of Lamotrigine in the stomach by formulating as gastroretentive floating tablets and to investigate the effect of natural and synthetic polymers on drug release and the buoyancy properties. Total 12 formulations were prepared by using different synthetic polymers like HPMC K4M, HPMC K15M, HPMC K100M and natural polymers like Guar gum, Xanthan gum and Chitosan with two different drug-polymer ratios of 1:0.5 and 1: 1. In this study it was concluded that the formulation containing a natural polymer i.e., Xanthan gum with drug- polymer ratio of 1:0.5 has shown good floating and drug release properties.
