Abstract

The author addresses the main approaches in a family research in sociology, allocating two directions. The microso- ciological direction researches a family as small social group, and macrosociological – as social institute. Crisis of a family is connected with changes which happen in modern societies, especially with change of valuable ori- entations. To replace traditional values (a roditelstvo, a matrimony) liberal values (an egocentrism, career, per- sonal material welfare) come. The family can't disappear absolutely in society, but there is a change of its role as social institute
