Abstract
Abies webbiana is commonly known as Talispatra in Hindi and Indian Silver Fir in English. It comes under the Family: Pinaceae. The present study was designed for isolation of alkaloid from A.webbiana leaves and assessed their activity on liver and kidney. The isolation of alkaloid was carried out using different chromatographic methods (thin layer and column chromatography). The isolated alkaloid was identified by using m.p., FTIR, 1H NMR and MS spectral analysis. Effect of flavonoid on liver and kidney was assessed by inducing (0.1 mL/kg) CCl4 (i.p.) and (6 mg/kg) cisplatin (i.p.), respectively measured by biochemical marker of liver and kidney. Isolated compound was identified on the basis of FTIR, 1H NMR and MS spectral analysis. Isolated alkaloid reduced the increased biochemical marker (BM) of liver and kidney. The BM was increased by inducing CCl4 and cisplatin, respectively. Isolated compound was 2-naphthylen amino ethanol and it protects the liver and kidney.
