Abstract
One of the goals of functioning for the coal mines of production control and labor protection is the prevention of occupational injuries. The article brie y describes the patterns of injury, usually presented in the contemporary sources in the form of models, theories, concepts. Has identi ed the shortcomings of these models and the possibility of building a new, more modern model of accidents. The aim of this work is to carry out theoretical studies and to build a model of accidents, allowing to establish the patterns of occurrence of injuries according to which work violations of the occupational safety and health requirements do not always result in injury. Theoretical studies and built a situational model of accident, which explains why working with violations of requirements of labor protection do not always result in injury. Analysis using the model of occupational accidents that occurred in coal mines in different workplace hazards (except for natural deterioration of health and the criminal incident), allowed us to determine patterns of occurrence of accidents. The situational model can be used in the development of the method of situational safety management of coal mine production system, introduction of which will reduce the rate of injuries at coal mines.
