Abstract
In the face of the growing demand of state-subsidized housing in Mexico, federal government programs have developed, subsiding and financial mechanisms which exceed 9 billion pesos each year, intended to implement prototypes of sustainable housing developments. Under this perspective, energy efficiency and energy saving programs have been created and directed, to both water and energy consumptions. Thus, this research poses the impact of such programs, based on an assessment of the implementation of ecotechnologies for water saving, in highlighting the overall consumption of the house and the amount of water saved while using ecotechnologies, as well as the consumer practices; all of them provided quantitative data which was fundamental to carry out an evaluation of the efficiency of the federal programs implemented during 2012 in Mexicali, B.C.
