Abstract
In the article there is investigated the role of metaphor in the art language of industrial design. The author researches meanings of literary terms “personifi cation”, “metamorphosis”, ”epithet”, “periphrasis”, “oxymoron”, “catachresis” and other. Industrial design is regarded as a metalanguage, while the metaphor is an instrument which embodies different nuances of artistic conceptual content in contemporary design.
