Abstract
Image enhancement is the process of modifying the features without changing inherent properties of the image so as to produce improved quality image. Fuzzy logic is a theory that states the problems to be solved in linguistic terms rather than relationships between precise numerical values. The fuzzy rules give directives in the form of if-then statement similar to humane-like reasoning. The fuzzy image processing is the collection of approaches that understand, represent, process the image and it features as fuzzy sets. There are various image processing techniques which are applicable depending on the problem to be solved such as fuzzy contrast adjustment, fuzzy image segmentation, fuzzy edge detection. The process of fuzzy image enhancement is the mapping of gray level into a fuzzy plane by using a membership transformation function. The fuzzy logic theory is widely applied in image enhancement techniques as it deals the complicated systems in simple way in linguistic terms similar to humane-like reasoning
