Abstract

In this paper, we analyzed a WDM optical system for SSMF, LEAF, PSCF and NZDSF fiber types operating at data rates 8 X 112 Gb/s = 896 Gb/s having bandwidth 0.9 THz. Initially, we analyzed the performance of WDM system for SSMF fiber type at a fixed distance of 100 km for -1 dBm power level with 100 GHz spacing between channels. With 100 GHz channels spacing, the spectral efficiency of 1.2 b/s/Hz was achieved. Advanced modulation format DP 16-QAM using Erbium Doped Fiber Amplifier (EDFA) was incorporated. Coherent detection with DSP was used at the receiver side. The WDM system was evaluated by replacing SSMF fiber by LEAF, PSCF and NZDSF fibers one by one and using each type of fiber with the same power level at 100 km distance. The results of the parameters EVM, Q-Factor and log10 (SER) with different fiber types are compared.
