Abstract
Article is devoted to recreating the multi-faceted creative portrait of one of the forgotten "Russian foreigners" β talented German composer, working for the local musical theater in the first third of the XIX century. Scholz's opera unknown for musicology were presented first time. A romantic beginnings appearing in the poetic of this opera: symbolism "named Rose", a lyrical interpretation of the image of the main character β the knight Boresa, the significance of the line love and fantastic scope. Genre and style originality of "Magic Rose" is considered in terms of its relations with the tradition of the classic -romantic European and Russian opera.
