Abstract
This article is devoted to research of the picture “Eylau” of François Flameng (1856–1923) in the context of development of the Napoleonic legend subject at the turn of the XIX–XX century. This theme is absolutely undeveloped by the national science, and abroad, in spite of visible interest in this subject, it's poorly researched. Flameng devoted only part of his career to a battle painting, however he managed through his not numerous works not only to represent the main art lines contained in this genre, but also to create a high level of artistic skill canvases, to attain another degree of esthetic end historical reflection of the Napoleonic legend.
