Abstract
Abstract : For many of the surgeries performed in the perineal region, the spinal blockade achieved is higher than what we need. In order to avoid this, saddle block is performed. Patient asked to sit while giving spinal anaesthesia and sitting position is maintained for variable period. The waiting time for this 60 patients aged 23-65 yrs belonging to ASA I and II status undergoing perineal surgeries. Patients were randomly allotted into three groups. Patient were asked to Wait for 5mins,10 mins and 20 mins respectively. The level of blockade and fall in blood pressure were recorded. Results The results of the study were that waiting time doesnt influence the spread of spinal anaesthesia and true saddle block is not produced by increasing the waiting time even upto 20 mins.
